The ability to interrelate individual exhibits is crucial to the quality of an exhibition as a whole. This is why we take great pleasure in working on projects from the first idea to the very last detail.

An interdisciplinary team with two key competencies

gwf-ausstellungen develops and designs exhibitions and museum spaces. By bringing together our curatorial competence, humanities knowledge and artistic expertise, we devise creative and sophisticated solutions for exhibitions on all kinds of topics. Thanks to our wealth of experience working on projects of all scopes and sizes, we can guarantee a highly professional collaboration – from idea to implementation. We find new inspiration in every single brief.

We work in the areas of concept and design, both interlinked and as two independent fields. We always have the target audience in mind and consider the visitors at every single stage of an assignment. Through our exhibitions, we aim to open up versatile, attractive spaces which utilise various means of stimulating the visitor’s curiosity to learn more about a topic and get hands on.

Curation

The initial stage of a project is where all the ideas are born, where we come up with ways of making a topic engaging. Besides intensive research, these ideas are constantly expanded and adjusted. The end result is an exhibition which consolidates, illuminates, confronts and offers new perspectives. Presented in a different context, things adopt a new structure, which creates surprising new connections.

The core team comprises a historian and a cultural researcher.

  • Research: archives and literature, interviews with contemporary witnesses
  • Advice: museum development, museum consultation
  • Concept: exhibition concepts, communication concepts
  • Text: scientific and academic texts, exhibition texts, catalogue entries
Design

We give objects a setting and ideas a form. Besides working on a range of exhibitions on different themes, we have also developed a specialisation in the design of historico-political sites and memorials. With passion and sensitivity, we create exhibition dramaturgies and spaces that bring visitors closer to history. Our goal is to present authentic locations, historical sources and individual perspectives respectfully and to stimulate a lively dialogue that interlinks all of these aspects.

We collaborate closely with a network of professional planners, audio-visual media designers, lighting designers and artists.
